Meat Lover's Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
For the Sauce:
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Toppings:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cooked and crumbled Italian sausage
- 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup cooked and crumbled ground beef
Instructions:
Making the Dough:
Activate the Yeast:
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mixing the Dough:
- Add the olive oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
Kneading the Dough:
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preparing the Sauce:
Combine Ingredients:
- In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook the Sauce:
- Simmer the sauce over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assembling the Pizza:
Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
Roll Out the Dough:
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions.
- Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
Add the Sauce and Cheese:
- Spread a layer of pizza sauce over the dough.
- Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
Add the Meat Toppings:
- Evenly distribute the cooked sausage, bacon, pepperoni, ham, and ground beef over the cheese.
Bake the Pizza:
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (use a pizza peel if you have one).
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
