BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
For the BBQ Sauce:
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
For the Toppings:
- 1 ½ cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
Making the Dough:
Activate the Yeast:
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mixing the Dough:
- Add the olive oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
Kneading the Dough:
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preparing the Toppings:
Cook the Chicken:
- Season the chicken with salt and pepper, and cook it in a skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes per side. Let it cool, then shred or dice it.
- Toss the cooked chicken with ½ cup of BBQ sauce, ensuring it's well coated.
Prepare the Onion:
- In the same skillet, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the red onion slices until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.

Preheat Oven:

- Spread a layer of the remaining BBQ sauce over the dough.
- Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
Add the Toppings:
- Evenly distribute the BBQ chicken and caramelized red onions over the cheese.
Bake the Pizza:
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (use a pizza peel if you have one).
